The Company is providing employment to more than one thousand Semi skilled, skilled, specialized and super specialized people directly or indirectly. In addition to this about 200 Distributors.Jammu & Kashmir Cements Ltd. was incorporated as fully owned Government Company in December, 1974. The installation work for 600 tonnes per day capacity dry process Plant, Rotary horizontal Kiln, started at Khrew in District Pulwama-Kashmir nearly 23 Kms. away from Srinagar in 1975 and was completed in October, 1981. The plant which was then in a heavy sector industries list started commercial production in April, 1982 with Brand Name as 'Jehlum Brand Cement' OPC-43 Grade, BIS No. 8112.The plant is situated near rich deposits of high quality lime stone which help in production of quality cement. After having viewed the growing demand of the cement in the Valley, another plant of similar capacity was established in the year 2008. Since then, the JKCL is un-interruptedly supplying quality cement of 43 Grade "Jehlum Brand" to Government Departments as well as private market. In the process, JKCL has contributed fully in the developmental works of the State. It is a matter of satisfaction that JKCL has received appreciations from all the quarters in meeting timely requirements of the Departments. The growing demand of "Jehlum Brand" Cement is based on the fact that JKCL is supplying quality material to these Departments. It is to place on record that JKCL was only Public Sector Undertaking which supplied material to maintain the supply Line during the last 22 years of turmoil period.
